Think Tank > Obama, Millennials, and the State of the Union: One Year Later
What a wonderful, hardworking, surprise at every corner, kind of year. So much has been accomplished by our current administration. I am so proud of them.
When Obama did not get the votes in Oklahoma, I was surprised, because, we worked so hard and his bumper stickers are everywhere....I just didn't think there were so many ignorant people in Oklahoma....now we know.
The students at the University of Oklahoma are looking forward to reviewing the progress that our current administration is making. Make no mistake, we,as Democrats in Oklahoma, have faith in our government and abilities of our current administration. After being handed complete mess to clean up, we are sure the job can be done by this administration more so than by any other through out history....
He is hailed as the Chief, and expected to perform miracles. The Right conservatives called us Obama worshippers and said he was our messiah.Yet I see it is they who expected a messiah, to clean up the mess they left behind, all the while poking fun at the left for having faith in their new administration.
The list of accomplishments or amazing.....Obama is amazing. We love you First Family!

I am surpised most by how few people know, "what has happened under Obama and what hasn't."
The vocal minorities on the left and right can't seem to agree over whether the Presiden, under the guise of getting the economy back on its feet, has sold out to corporate America or is trying to poison it with Red medicine.
Among the "normal" people in between, there is either indifference or willful ignorance as to what the President does. This is the only public indicator of his success in the past year, that so many people implicitly trust and agree with him and thus, haven't complained or said anything.
The real problem, as I see it, is these are also the people who haven't been voting in the special elections, and are likely to do the same in November.

Having read the book in mid-2009, it was interesting to see the dynamic change that was already occuring after Preasident Obama took office and ctually had to deal with the very machine he had created! While his victory in 2008 showed how technology and the Milleneal generation could be rapidly & virally deployed, it also gave a blueprint for those who are now using it this year to expose everything from the lack of transparency to the giveaways & takeaways in the proposed healthcare legislation.
The Milleneal generation of activists have continued to use their knowledge, resources and enthusiasm to question the very government they put in office. They want accountability to the platform and agenda that drove them to activism. Many have now switched all the way over to leading varoius Tea Party organizatons throughout the country, and will hold every elected official, from President & Congress all the way down to city councils and school boards, accountable for everything they do.
The term "public office" has taken on a WHOLE new meaning!

The 2008 election cycle was an important and historic one for many reasons, though from our perspective the most fascinating element of the cycle centered around the engagement of the millennials, our new civic generation. Young people came out to both primaries and the general election to show their overwhelming support for President Obama, as two thirds voted for him.
Now that a year has passed since the historic election, we're curious to find out your opinion on what has happened and what hasn't under the Obama Administration in its first year in office.
